The monitoring survey was conducted from reference stations 550+00 to 570+00, which includes 49 depth of closure and 28 wading depth profiles along Galveston Island. In addition, APTIM conducted a UAS/Drone proof of methodology study. APTIM surveyors conducted the beach profile survey and acquired UAS data August 17, 2021 to September 3, 2021.

The 2021 annual beach monitoring of Galveston Island includes topographic and hydrographic surveys of the beach and offshore areas. The survey data is used to satisfy the Department of the Army permit conditions associated with SWG-2014-00448, which requires beach surveys to provide sufficient data to locate the Tyical Jurisdictional Limit, approximate line of vegetation, high tide line and the low tide line. The survey data is also used to monitor the three (3) beach nourishment projects constructed by the City along Galveston Island, namely Historic Seawall Beach, Babe’s Beach, and Dellanera Beach.

The scientific monitoring process employed by APTIM provides information necessary to plan, design, and optimize subsequent follow up projects, potentially reducing the need and cost of unnecessary work as well as potentially reducing any environmental impact that may have, or is to be expected to occur.

These data represent various coastal features.
